Job Description

MYR Energy Services, a subsidiary of MYR Group Inc, provides EPC contracting services for renewable and solar energy facilities throughout the U.S. including permitting, energy storage, complete solar facilities, and substation and transmission line interconnections. 

Job duties will be in the field at job locations across the country. Candidates will typically live and work in the area of the project and then travel as project needs change. The ability to travel and relocate to projects is essential to the success of this position. The initial project will be in the Battle Mountain, NV area where we will be constructing a large solar farm. 

Summary

Our Safety Engineers work to ensure all MYR employees uphold the core value of safety by implementing and maintaining safety programs. A successful Safety Engineer will develop positive professional relationships while working closely with field personnel, all levels of management and outside agencies during all phases of construction. This will be a full time field position which will be assigned to solar projects throughout the country.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate with project leadership team to build a safety culture by engaging and empowering the craft
  • Create a system for communicating safety and health issues to include:
    •  Participate, lead and interact in daily Stretch and Bend
    • Provide formal safety training for safe work practices
    • Posting of various safety communications
    • Development of an idea card and safety suggestion system to be implemented on every site
  • Coordinate and conduct daily site visits of all crews to Observe the work, Listen to the craft, Engage with the crew and Act upon the conversation to empower the crews to own the site safety program
  • Document and communicate site visit information
  • Coordinate other supplemental inspections whenever new processes, equipment, substances, or previously unrecognized hazards are found to be present
  • Verify that corrective measures are completed, including recommendations of the safety committee, insurance carrier, and/or other safety consultant
  • Review, conduct a 5 why and complete corrective actions for all injury and illness investigation reports
  • Understand and comply with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and other industry-specific professional and ethical conduct standards, if applicable.

 

Job Requirements

Principal Skills/Qualifications

  • 0-2 years of experience in construction safety roles, with experience in the solar field preferred
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of OSHA and other industry related safety regulations required
  • Be a team player, take ownership and make safety fun

Preferred Education

  • Safety or related technical undergraduate degree preferred (such as CSP)
  • Safety related credentials (i.e. OSHA 501, OTI certifications, etc.) preferred
